Puerto Plata airport transfer FAQ

The questions our dispatcher answers every day, with the same numbers we quote on WhatsApp. Every price is per vehicle, one-way, taxes included, for 1–6 passengers.

Does Uber work at Puerto Plata Airport (POP)?
App pickups are not permitted inside POP arrivals. Drivers cannot legally collect you at the terminal curb, so an Uber request after customs either goes unanswered or ends in a walk off airport property. That is why arriving travellers pre-book a private car: the driver stands inside arrivals with a name sign and the price is agreed before you land. Uber at POP — what actually works
How much is a transfer from POP to Sosúa?
Sosúa is $35 Standard and $70 VIP, one-way, per vehicle, taxes included, for 1–6 passengers. The drive is 15–20 min from the terminal. A 7–14 passenger van adds $20 Standard or $40 VIP. That rate covers Santiago, Amber Cove and the main Sosúa hotel strip, and it does not change for a night arrival. POP to Sosúa
How much is a transfer from POP to Playa Dorada?
Playa Dorada is $30 Standard and $65 VIP one-way per vehicle, the shortest run we do at 10–15 min. The price already includes the gated-community access at the Playa Dorada checkpoint, taxes and waiting time while you clear baggage. Villas inside Playa Dorada and the Marina are the same rate — send the villa number on WhatsApp. POP to Playa Dorada
How much is a transfer from POP to Moon Palace?
Moon Palace The Grand sits in the Maimón belt, not Sosúa, so it is $45 Standard and $85 VIP one-way per vehicle, 30–35 min from POP. It is not the $35 Sosúa rate — Maimón is farther north. The driver drops at the Moon Palace main reception, and the same rate applies to the departure leg. POP to Moon Palace
How much is a transfer from POP to Casa Marina Puerto Plata?
Casa Marina Beach Resort is a Sosúa-zone address: $35 Standard and $70 VIP one-way per vehicle, 15–20 min from arrivals. The rate is per car, not per person, so a family of four pays the same $35 as a solo traveller. Larger groups move to a van at $55 Standard. POP to Casa Marina
How much is a transfer from POP to Nickelodeon Puerto Plata?
Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts sits in Cabarete: $45 Standard and $85 VIP one-way per vehicle, 25–35 min from POP. It is not a 20-minute hop and it is not the Sosúa rate — the last stretch is an unlit entrance road on the far north coast. Book the departure leg early; we advise a 3.5-hour pickup buffer. POP to Nickelodeon
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle, always. One price covers the whole car, one-way, taxes included, for 1–6 passengers with luggage. Groups of 7–14 move to a van, which adds $20 Standard or $40 VIP on local zones. Nothing is charged per head, per bag or per child seat, and the figure written on WhatsApp is the figure the driver collects. Full price list
What happens if my flight is late?
We track the flight number you send, so the driver leaves the base against the actual landing time, not the schedule. A two-hour delay or a diversion costs nothing extra and there is no waiting fee while you clear immigration and baggage. If the flight is cancelled outright, tell us on WhatsApp and we move the booking to the new arrival. How pickup works
Do you provide car seats for children?
Yes, at no extra cost. Tell us the child's age and weight when you book and the dispatcher assigns a vehicle with the right infant seat or booster fitted before it leaves the base. Two seats in one car is fine. Because seats are fitted in advance rather than kept at the curb, we need the request on WhatsApp, not on arrival. Families and car seats
Where exactly does the driver meet me at POP?
Inside the arrivals area after baggage claim and customs, holding a printed sign with your name. You do not need to find a curb lane, call anyone or hunt for a parking level. Plan 25–45 minutes from wheels-down to the arrivals door; the driver is already there and waiting is included in the fixed price. How pickup works
Do you sell shared shuttles?
No. We run private vehicles only — your booking, your car, no other passengers and no hotel-to-hotel loop. Shared shuttles can be cheaper for a solo traveller, but they punish families, late arrivals and anyone heading to Cabarete, where one extra stop can add an hour. If you want shared, we are not the right operator. Shared shuttle vs private
How do I pay, and do I have to prepay?
No prepay is required to hold a booking. You pay the driver at the end of the ride in US dollars or Dominican pesos, or you can settle by bank transfer beforehand if your company needs an invoice. The amount is written on WhatsApp before the trip and does not change at the car door. How to pay your transfer
What time should the driver collect me for my departure flight?
Operator advice: Playa Dorada 2.5 hours before departure, Sosúa 3 hours, Cabarete 3.5 hours. Those buffers absorb the airline's check-in cutoff, the resort gate and the two-lane stretches on the Sosúa–Maimón road. We confirm the exact pickup time the day before by WhatsApp so you are not guessing at breakfast. Transfer times by zone
Can the car get through the Playa Dorada gate?
Yes. Our vehicles are registered for Playa Dorada access, so the checkpoint stop is a formality — the guard needs your name and the resort or villa you are staying at. Give us the exact property when booking so the driver has it ready. There is no gate surcharge; the fixed Playa Dorada rate covers it. POP to Playa Dorada
Is there a round-trip discount?
Yes — book both legs together and the return is 5% off, so Sosúa round trip is $67 Standard instead of $70. The same driver desk handles the departure pickup and confirms the time the day before. If your plans are not fixed yet, book the arrival now and add the return later at the same rate. Full price list
How long is the drive to Punta Rucia, and what does it cost?
Punta Rucia and Playa Esmeralda are 90–150 minutes from POP — well past Cabarete, not a Sosúa suburb. Standard is $129 one-way, VIP $219, per vehicle for 1–6 passengers, taxes included. A 7–14 seat van is quoted on WhatsApp rather than the local van surcharge, because the road north is longer and slower. For departures we leave the lobby 4–4.5 hours before the flight. POP to Punta Rucia
Is there a night surcharge for a 1 a.m. landing?
No. A 02:00 arrival pays the same fixed rate as a midday one. The driver is inside arrivals with your name sign whenever the flight lands, and we track the flight number so a diversion or a three-hour delay changes nothing on the price. Night arrivals at POP
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, at no extra cost. Send each child's age and weight on WhatsApp when you book and the seats are fitted before the driver leaves for the airport. Children ride inside the same 1–6 passenger vehicle price; a stroller and the usual family luggage still fit. Families and car seats
SDQ airport or Santo Domingo city — which page do I book?
Both are $250 Standard / $349 VIP and take 2.5–3 hours, but they are different drops. SDQ is the airport-to-airport run to Las Américas for a connecting flight; the city route ends at a Zona Colonial, Malecón or business hotel. Tell us which one and the driver plans the entrance accordingly. POP to SDQ airport
