Taíno Bay is the terminal in town — not Amber Cove

Puerto Plata has two cruise terminals and they are not the same place. Taíno Bay sits inside the city, beside the old port and the Malecón, 15 to 20 minutes from the airport. Amber Cove is 30 to 35 minutes the other side of town, on Maimón bay. Guests book a car for one and dock at the other more often than you would think, and the two are half an hour apart, so the first thing we confirm in writing is which terminal your ship uses. From there the rules are the same as any sailing: the gangway closes at a fixed time, no ship waits, and private vehicles stop at the terminal's ground-transport area rather than at the pier. The city approach can be slow in the late afternoon, and we plan for that instead of hoping.

How the Taíno Bay cruise terminal pickup runs

2. 2We confirm in writing which terminal you need — Taíno Bay or Amber Cove — and the price.
3. 3After immigration and baggage, walk out to arrivals and look for the sign with your name.
4. 4Direct 15–20 minute drive into Puerto Plata to the Taíno Bay ground-transport area.

Hotels, villas and drop-off points

No hotel name is needed here — the ship name and the boarding or docking time are what we plan around. Staying a night in town before sailing? We can book the hotel leg and the port leg together.

Drop-off and pickup are at the Taíno Bay ground-transport area outside the terminal gate; cars are not allowed alongside the ship. For pickups after a cruise the driver waits there with your name sign from the time the ship clears.

Bigger groups

7–14 passengers ride in a passenger van: +$20 on Standard, +$40 on VIP for this zone. Golf bags, strollers, wheelchairs and surf gear are fine — give us the luggage count and we send the right vehicle instead of guessing at the curb.
